Do you want to help shape the technology direction of the payments platform? Join Payment & Settlement Services as a technology focused Architect and help design scalable, secure, resilient and high-performing services for the global payments capabilities.
The department designs, builds and operates high-quality payment, settlement and open banking services that are easy to consume and enable internal and external customers to stay at the forefront of the industry. The role sits within PSS Architecture (Business Banking initiative) and focuses on technology strategy, platform evolution, engineering enablement, architectural standardisation, and long-term operational efficiency, quality and resilience.
What you will do
• Define target architectures and modernisation roadmaps for strategic payment platforms.
• Design scalable, secure, resilient and reusable cloud-native patterns based on global infrastructure solutions.
• Create reference architectures, engineering standards and reusable patterns that drive simplification and standardisation.
• Define integration strategies across applications, data and cloud.
• Provide architecture reviews and technical assurance to safeguard performance, resilience, security and compliance.
• Influence stakeholders on technology choices, platform investments and adoption of standard solutions.
• Contribute to architecture practices, standards and knowledge sharing.
Must-haves
• At least 5 years of experience as an architect in complex technology environments.
• Experience in highly regulated environments, preferably financial services.
• Strong understanding of large-scale distributed enterprise systems.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to build collaborative partnerships and influence decisions across domains.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
Technology expertise
• IT architecture methodologies and modelling, such as TOGAF and ArchiMate.
• Full-stack architecture and the software delivery lifecycle.
• Enterprise integration patterns across a landscape that combines event-driven, microservices and API oriented architecture.
• Cloud infrastructure and enterprise platform services.
• Messaging platforms such as Kafka, Pulsar, JMS or MQ.
• File and object storage solutions such as S3 and NFS.
• Observability, resilience, security and operational excellence.
