For our client in Amsterdam we are looking for a Java/Kotlin Developer
Within our Payment Products area, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Kotlin/Java Developer who’s passionate about building high quality, scalable user experiences. Our domain sits at the heart of the company: between our core banking systems and millions of end customers. We enable processes such as iDEAL Wero, payment initiation, transaction reporting, Betaalverzoek, Insights — and much more — across all channels.
You will work in the Open Banking squad, a diverse team developing APIs and front-end journeys that expose reliable products to the outside world via our developer portal. We also own the transaction download API, which we aim to significantly uplift in customer satisfaction. Curiosity is key — you’ll have plenty of room to experiment, innovate, and bring your ideas to life.
What You’ll Do
As a senior Kotlin/Java Engineer in our Agile DevOps team, you will:
• Develop, enhance, and maintain Spring Boot API s based on our internal high-performing Merak framework
• Own the full DevOps lifecycle: test, deploy, monitor, and improve services. Reliability is key
• Collaborate closely with the front-end teams to build seamless, intuitive customer experiences
• Raise the bar on code quality, test automation, and performance engineering
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and help grow craftsmanship within the squad
• Continuously improve our engineering culture, automation, and CI/CD pipelines
• Work as part of a small, multidisciplinary squad that takes full ownership of its products
Our Tech Stack
You’ll primarily work with:
• Back-end: Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, Git, Maven, REST, Kafka, Oracle DB, Spring Data/Hibernate
• Platforms & tooling: Github Copilot, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Prometheus and Grafana/Kibana
Profile
• 4+ years of development experience
• Proven experience with Kotlin and/or Java
• Understanding of CI/CD, testing, automation, and DevOps practices
• Fluent communication skills in English
• A hands-on, proactive mentality
• A passion for continuous improvement — personally, technically, and as a team
• Awareness of working in a complex IT environment where IT Risk & compliance matter
Bonus points (Not required, but very welcome!):
• Full-stack experience
• Experience integrating third?party APIs
• System design expertise or experience building for large-scale, global usage
