For our client, we are looking for a Senior Java Developer (21+, Spring Boot, Kafka, Elastic Search).

The Opportunity
You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for realizing the core platform of our client. Currently, the team is working on a platform for building and providing WebComponents used globally within the organization. Internal software engineering has been raised to a core focus. Better technology, direct user feedback, fast delivery processes, and maximizing automation are the current standard of excellent service in these modern times. This means lots of room for new ideas, and the chance to roll out this potentially successful product to multiple countries in the world.

The Team
To be more specific, the squad forms a large part of the Frontend Foundation Web area. The focus is on improving the way the organization integrates and deploys its code, from concept to production. The aim is to provide a better experience for engineers and, ultimately, for clients. You will join a newly formed team of highly skilled people to create the next generation of the frontend delivery services. The team's directive is to deliver a high-performing, scalable and fast solution that will be used globally using the latest tech stack. The immediate focus of the squad is the migration of the frontend controller to Java.

• Contribute to a safe and productive working environment.

• Be involved in the whole development life cycle, from refinement to monitoring in production.
• Be available for support and incident management of the products.
• Being on call 24/7 every 4 to 8 weeks.
• Help maintain and support the existing products and goals.
• Create and maintain product risk documentation.
• Contribute towards a realistic roadmap for the squad.
• Become a Security Champion for the team.

Our Stack
Within the IT Chapter, the main technologies and frameworks used are: Java, REST API, Kafka, Cassandra, Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Boards, Artifacts), Maven, Elastic Search — all based on a container hosting platform (OpenShift, Kubernetes) on which new features are delivered into production every two weeks.

• You are experienced in Java 21+ (LTS versions), and you enjoy coming up with solutions.
• You are experienced in Spring Boot / latest Spring.
• You have sound knowledge of microservices.
• You have experience working in a distributed and challenging IT environment with asynchronous communication channels (Kafka is used extensively).
• Strong experience with Azure and Azure DevOps.
• Great analytical skills and conceptual/architectural understanding; ability to quickly grasp new technical concepts outside your comfort zone.
• Good knowledge of performance/capacity/availability (Elastic Search and Kibana).
• Passion for automation and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of networking (DNS, HTTP) and security (TLS, PKI).
• Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases.
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum/DevOps team.
• A team player and true professional in every way.
• Good communication skills and openness to new ideas.
• Strong technical communication skills, keen to engage with customers.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance testing (Gatling).
• Thorough understanding of (test) automation, continuous delivery, deployment tools and pipelines — working with Azure Repos, Azure Pipelines, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Checkmarx, Azure Artifacts.
• Ability to transfer knowledge back to the client via presentations, workshops, documentation, and — most importantly — setting new standards for the way we do tech.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and in an agile way of working.
• Ability to handle application risk controls efficiently, proactively contributing to preventing security and operational risks.
